Richard Masser, CEO of Crestwood, has been announced as the incoming President of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply as of 1 November.
Yorkshire born Masser, started his career with the Wolseley group in the 1980’s and since that time has worked across a variety of sectors including retail, distribution, wholesale and manufacturing. At the age of thirty he became the youngest serving director of the Danish manufacturing PLC Eurospace Furniture.
In the year 2000 Masser left his position at Eurospace to set up Quantum Global Product Solutions. The company grew from strength to strength to become a successful SME in its own right inside five years. The business was later fully acquired by Crestwood, who then appointed Masser as their group CEO.
As a leading global distributor with roots well established in the furniture hardware market Crestwood activities now also span a number of specialist market sectors with operations in both the UK and Asia More recently Crestwood launched the new Deseo luxury brand of premium quality bespoke fascia’s, accessories and components.
Masser has had an extensive relationship with CIPS for a number of years serving on many of the governing boards such as the Awarding Body Board of Trustees and the Foundation Board of Trustees. He has also just completed his term on the Global Board of Trustees of which he was Chairman for two years.
Succeeding Managing Director and CEO of Nigeria NLG, Babs Omotowa, Masser will be the brand face and chief representative of CIPS, leading over 116,000 members in some 150 countries around the world where the institute is represented.

I am extremely passionate about my profession and, like I have done in all my previous positions, I will invest this passion into ensuring that the future of procurement and supply is one of prosperity. I hope to inspire procurement professionals around the world, not only those who are already working, but the young procurement talent of the future we see rising through the ranks, like I once did.”

His presidential theme will encompass establishing procurement at the heart of business to help drive organisational benefits. Masser places emphasis on the need to up-skill the profession to deal with the wide ranging and ever changing challenges procurement and the supply chain face, including commercial dynamics corruption and modern-day slavery.
